God is certainly not impressed by big numbers–just ask Gideon, who defeated a vast Midianite army with only three hundred men. The fundamental lesson of the experience of Gideon for believers today is this: When it comes to communities of faith, God is only concerned about faithfulness and effectiveness. When we have a genuine relationship with God and an unshakeable trust in the power of the Holy Spirit of God, we are able to accomplish anything for the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is why Jesus said, “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), and not, “Go into all the world, making big buildings and megachurches.” “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20, KJV). Believe it!
