Self-regulation is one’s ability to control emotions and reactions to a given situation. Many have struggled with a variety of emotions over the past two years as we have navigated unprecedented times and a global pandemic. Parents and children alike might experience anxiety surrounding returning to school. What will it look like? Will it be safe? Will my child be able to learn? Will they be able to play with friends? Best School Year helps to reduce fear or anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes that will impact a familiar environment: school. It encourages parents to use co-regulation to help children focus on what they can control, what will stay the same, and how to use positive self-talk. It also focuses on the resilience of a child, showcasing how children can find joy and excitement in difficult situations. With patience, love and precautions your child can and will have an amazing school year, maybe even the best school year yet!
